Community Garden

Someone tag me out.

Splinted back and bandaged heart
Prepare me for the endless toil,
But one day maybe we can start
Attending to the soil.
For I’m too old to till this earth,
I need you all to help.
From death back to my birth,
I have been working by myself.
Though I may stumble and fall,
I’ll get no rest today.
Yes, I ignore the need; the calls
For help lead me away.
I will heed that unwelcome song,
For sunlit days are few.
This garden is where we belong:
We all have work to do.
Don’t focus on what you can’t
Do anything to slow.
She taught me how to plant,
Now I’ll teach you how to grow.
