Kaleidoscope

For those who see with their hearts. Not their eyes.

I had a dream last night.
It involved a world beautiful of color,
Varied of hue.
The people there were a mixture of
The most wonderful of these,
Blue, red, yellow, green, purple, orange.
Each of them had different mixtures
Of the same colors.
They were content to believe
That this alone made them different.
And this difference was acceptable to all.
But there was a smaller group scattered and spread
By winds and fate across a world of rainbows.
These people had but one color.
Each was only a blue, only an orange.
And they were branded for their differences.
For their differences were too great,
And therefore unacceptable.
They were mocked, singled out, violated and abused.
Their persecutors shared a commonality
With those who preached tolerance.
And so nothing was accomplished
Accept societal genocide.
Everyone has eyes to see.
What is the true difference
Between a telescope
And a kaleidoscope?
One sees what the mind wants it to see.
The other sees what the heart suggests it should see.
