Ravenswood Ave

A rose by any other name

A dewdrop in the ocean:
That’s all the time we have,
And I found you for a minute.
You told me all about your god,
Of his glory and flaws,
Then you let me in.
The lights in the parking lot
Came on at three a.m.
I heard your laugh ring through my head
And I knew how hard I fell.
Your body had no thorns,
But you weren’t for me.
I saw something in your eyes,
Yes, it was familiar.
I passed you by the other day
And I recalled those last words.
I reread your letter,
And our minute was done.
