One of Those Days

Aren’t they all like that these days?

Just one of those days
Where everything seems fine.
Overcast skies and sunken in eyes
You never take as a sign
That the glory of morning
Might come with a warning
That all might not be so benign.
Just one of those days
And I’m feeling fine.
Just one of those days
Where everything seems grand.
When ever-y skip is a stumble or trip,
Feet feel like they’re sinking in sand.
You say breathe, you can do it
Look again, hey, you blew it.
Why can’t things ever go as you planned?
Just one of those days
And I’m feeling grand.

Don’t you know, can’t you tell?
It’s a show, you’re in hell.
Guess sometimes you take what you get.
Can’t you feel, can’t you see
That it’s real, and it’s me
That lives in that world of pain and regret?

Just one of those days
Where everything seems fine.
The pain won’t stay if you shut it away,
So the prison lives on by design.
One more try, I can do it:
Not a chance, kid, you blew it.
Why is happiness so hard to find?
Just one of those days
And I’m feeling fine.

I wrote this in the style of Frank Sinatra. I don’t really know how to write songs, so this is a test as much as anything else.
