There are no words
I could say
you have not heard before.
I want to say them to you
anyway.
Words,
that word,
teeter my lips
timid to spill
what seems natural
in naked moments.
I push that word of legitimacy
into thought’s shadow,
deny your cautious ear
whispered emotion.
There are no words
you could say
I have not heard before.
I want to hear you say them
to me anyway,
Do words,
that word,
prowl your thoughts;
perch your lips
in naked moments, waiting
to slip into my willing ear?
I cover your mouth with mine,
search your tongue
for the words
that will move us
out of implication
and
change this little thing
we’ve got.
