Seeking

It is morning again
And he is still alone again
He is a man that no longer wishes anymore
For a life he always dreamed of
The successful business
He wanted to run
A house with a white picket fence
A wonderful wife who tended to be a bit of a spend thrift
A daughter who was lovely as her mother
And the little boy who he could play ball with
All of which is no more

All of his wrenching whines
Countless pleas
Stretches miles away
Ironically only to be heard by silence
Over time he became silent

Yet he did not want to alone anymore
The incessant thoughts
Never ending cries
Promises that have been broken
A quiet home of lost love

Too many sweetly tattered memories
Just fading away
Like a switch
That cuts off the sun

As nighttime approaches
He watches reruns of kid shows, and the cooking channel
Hours at a time
To jog his memory of better times

He eventually heads upstairs
Walking past photos of his youth
Ones shown happy during better days
His eyes just turn away
To stop any ongoing thoughts
In his room he prays that tomorrow will bring a better day
After taking his medicine and an elixir of his own

He dreamed once more
A successful business
A big house with a white picket fence
A wonderful sweet wife who tended to be a bit of a spend thrift
A daughter who was smart and lovely as her mother
And the little boy who he could play ball with whenever
All of which was his now and forever

Morning is anew
The plants are green
The mailbox is full
People are smiling their way out the door
And so is he
Finally he can start his day with his dream

This is my first attempt of poetry in a long time. I do not expect too much but, I am happy with it.
