Strong face

I have a good face
A strong face
With a rigid jaw line which carries the teeth
That have gritted themselves dull
Struggling to contain the sharp tongue
Whom lurks behind
Picked over pursed lips frame the mouth
That has locked away more than it has shared
Riding the crooked slope to the nose
Unintentionally trained to smell the fires of tomorrow
High cheek bones support the almond eyes
That have been muddied with time
Though when the timings right flashes of life
Can be spotted within
Ears with no outward distinction
Scarred within from information before their time
Continuing upward rests thin eyebrows
Usually pressed together in thought
Not yet wrinkled skin littered with freckles
That are a splattered memory of youth
This face usually hardened and guarded
Softens only for the few who have proved
History does not always repeat itself
A strong shield that has stood the test of time
I have a good face
