all time over

a parents journey

Now, I would never listen when I was young
would I of heard you if you’d have told me lies?
when I looked at your halo and the sparkle beamed
I was sure that a wish was a forceful sigh.

Baby lay sleeping, tired arms where a sad future turned happy
good mornings and long days left a still turned grin, though painted,
that’s the way of real life, all time is over and done
fade away teen years; the long draw of adolescence is folded and packed.

Why does it only hurt when this dizzy height has been scaled?
phone calls never bring the same fate when halfway up the hill,
unaware of how things are this lone pain wont shift
I’m sure the prerequisite for life is what you’ll experience.

Come to me now child, hold out your tiny arms
said words and actions cause a bond that’s unbreakable,
now you realise what your life is all about; we suffer
whole heartened, we have nothing but we die for the love we give.
