illumination

you did this to me

As a cloud, floating slow
into my peripheral I espy,
the glint of moonlight on a slated roof
as the cold gentle rain obscures its reflection.

This cloak of evening sarcasm dons
this face of a nonchalant care recites small verse,
through the passage of time
beyond the rim of vacant voids.

Hidden in the shadows of the subconscious
trying to swim the freezing depths of self delusion,
a seed of truth, a kernel of a factual thing in heart
a candle that bends to the will of love.

You’ve turned my heart to springtime
and now it melts the frost of a winters encase,
I died a million lifetimes before I met you
and I’d die a million more just to try.
