the elephant skipping around the room

To you I’m just a dark secret
I’m the elephant skipping around the room
And you’ll do all you can to avoid me
As I crash and smash from near to far and zoom
Well let me whisper some truth
Into that ear that looks a lot like mine
I’m not here to spoil your life
I just wish not to be remembered in tales and lies

Your mother has made me a punch bag
For you both to vent and thrash
But the reason for your anger isn’t me
Its the one that stabs my back
Look into your mothers eyes
And ask her for honest truth
I’m not the man she tells all I am
A dark secret she keeps from you

I only want what’s best for you
In your heart you must sense so
Must I live my life without you
Just card and present, anon
I only want the chance of a chance
To try to make up for all I’ve missed
But I know I will languish cold, sullen
Just a dark secret, an elephant still skipping

(2013)

a poem about my oldest child, who unfortunately, due to the manipulation of truth and facts by my ex-wife,wants nothing to do with me for the time being. It hurts,it hurts bad.
