Into the Woods

When you went to the wood to build this fire,
you traveled for days to find the finest pieces.
You did not fear the dark woods,
nor the cold winds that pushed against you.
Each piece you gently set at my feet,
as I gazed to the horizon.
Softly you blew, carefully you tended.

A warmth in my belly,
A heat in my chest.
I look down, my heart in flames,
Amazed at what you have built.
I leave my fortress.

You have shown me what I did not know I was seeking.
Thank you, my love.
