Depression at its finest

Depression is like a dark tunnel;
Take a wrong turn and you’ll never find your way back
Depression covers your true self with a veil
Making all your days seem endless and dull
The veil protects you
It protects you from being harmed
Harmed by the people you trusted
Harmed by the people you loved
Harmed by yourself
But it can’t hold everyone back at once
And it slips every now and again
And it falls
And you tumble down with it
And you’re unable to get back up
The pressure of life if forcing you down
And nobody seems to notice
They just carry on and forget
But you won’t forget
And you wont forgive
With one last tug of life,
You manage to hoist yourself up
To hoist yourself up onto the side
To regain yourself
To remember the people who hurt you
To remember the people who trusted you
To remember yourself.
Depression is like a dark tunnel
And there’s always light at the end of the tunnel
But it’s your choice whether you find it or not.
