Poem: What future holds

Drinking stale coffee
burning my tongue
I wait...
and wait...
at another dirty train station
in one more random town.
Fidgeting for hours,
sadly too few to explore.

Looking around me
I see sad, grey faces
of every nationality.
Raindrops make the outside
feel dirty...
though cars wear clean streaks.
“The angels are crying”
I thought as a child.

My heart beats quickly
nicotine, caffeine, anticipation
anxious to reach a destination
and more so to feel
arms around me again.
Today, perhaps the angels weep
bittersweet tears for me
for this empty spot.

Every thought of her
makes my pulse quicken
recent memories flood
my brain with images
of her smile and soft flesh.
Smelling her
tasting her lips
but when I reach, she’s too far.

Taking a deep breath
trying to redirect
finding that my brain’s stuck
on this one channel.
She’s bewitched me with her kisses
enchanted me with her caresses
stolen my heart
think I’ll let her keep it.
