America the Beautiful, America the Brave

America the Beautiful.
America the Brave.
Sending it’s constructors straight to the grave.
Y’all never cared and y’all probably never will but as you’re reading these words, you’re gonna shut up, listen and sit still.
From the age of dawn you’ve been spitting fables and carrying on about how we are one and together we are strong but yet you still are not able to open up your evil eyes and see that the choices you made yesterday and today have made this you unstable.
You chose hatred instead of love and now it’s chewing all of us up.
You chose to discriminate against black folks who created America.
You take our freedoms and shoot us down with your copper bullets, yet, we the ones causing the hysteria?
America, you need to get your shit together.
I mean for real.
You make things like electronics, clothes, and money a big deal to mask the realities that are too much to think about; too much to feel.
America the Beautiful, America the Brave?
You not beautiful when you took my ancestor and made him a slave.
You not brave
You a punk.
You scared.
You take the black man’s rights to be educated and free then you shake your head in pity when he sunk.
All because if he rises past you, he better than you and then he’ll have the power to make you truly impaired.
We could stand together as one to fix problems like poverty, the economy, help those who still can’t walk, talk, hear, or see.
But America the Beautiful, America the Brave, you’re too busy trying to stop us people with a little more melanin from rising above and gaining power for ourselves to just let us be.
America, you can be beautiful; you can be brave.
You just gotta get over your racial fears and then altogether we can make a better country.
This is a dream a black girl and many others crave so that you can be beautiful and you can be brave.
