Alone

In the beat of my heart,
In the flash of an eye;
I would have flown to your side–
To hold you as you cry.
Take it back to the start;
I swear I won’t lie;
I never really tried–
To better our life.
So we had to part;
And I know that’s why–
It was my foolish pride.
Now you’ve left me to die.

Alone.

No one lives here anymore.
In this place you once called home;
For so long, not a shelter–
To whether the storm.
The walls have caved in;
There’s no solace within.
Just an empty place–
Where my heart had been.
Just a soul without form,
Left to scream in the night.
Just the shade of a ghost;
Forsaken.

Alone.
