There, in glistening half-light
a spider feels the dawn
languid flies forget they’re born
life loses a fight
A newly unfurled a petal
the colour of ordinary
eyes much too busy to be
walk past habitually
And so headlong
into the fury of the fraught
phone blinkered life caught
short while the day plays long
