Banana Leaf

Grains of cooked rice fall,
Like raindrops on a rainy day;
Cooked lentils, spicy and coarse,
Fall heavily like shouting stones,
thrown from a window high above.

Some fish and meat,
Laid down on a bed of rowdy rice,
messy and unkempt;
all mashed up nd ready to eat.
Mash, mash, mash.

Banana leaf, Banana leaf,
Welcome this messy mash
of rice and lentils.
For hunger does not understand
tidiness,
For hunger does not understand
tidiness.

Banana leaf, Banana leaf,
welcome this edible delight.
