The Same Path

A story and a poem

I walk through a wonderful prairie
The grass uniformly tall and upright.
A forest where I take a strawberry,
I have no choice but to take a bite.
Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary
As I stare into the bright sunlight.

The prairie which has lost its shape
And its grass which is forever displaced.
A broken strawberry doesn’t look great,
Only one bite and left as waste.
It was dark, with nothing left to celebrate,
Since almost everything was misplaced.

While traversing on a mountain of snow,
I spot a small, but unique group of bumble–
Bees flying around and having fun below.
I am reaching the top and take a tumble,
This is certainly an exciting way to go
And in my final steps I feel a rumble.

An avalanche ravished the forests around,
Which was abnormal, for a mountain left in peace.
The life that once was, had no more sound,
For the beautiful buzzing bees now cease.
The hardest thing to complete was the climb down,
For in my journey this was the last piece.

I am almost exactly where I started my trip,
Where everyone I know, and my family await.
Being given a glass of wine, I take a sip,
Happy as I will go on a long-awaited date.
I am being awarded my very own ship,
But the greatest gift, is being with my soulmate.

I knew the land that I was walking toward.
My own home, where I live completely carefree.
Finally reaching the end, I expected to be adored,
But I saw someone else, being cherished with glee.
After they had announced his achievement and award,
I realized no one was ever going to remember me.

This was my try to bridge the gap between a short story and a poem.
