Phantom

Moon’s Lullaby

Would you shield me in a world I’ve never known,
Only to break me in ways you call your own?
Would you whisper that everything’s okay,
Just to make me believe in dreams that slip away?

Would you count the stars with me,
By the lake where I see you in my dreams?
Moonlight softens the face I’ve never seen,
An ethereal vision, haunting and serene.
If I glimpsed it but once, I’d lose my mind,
For it’s the treasure my restless soul must find.

The clock ticks, our melody lies shattered.
My breath falters, lips tremble, scattered.
I clutch myself to feel your trace,
A hollow comfort, my only embrace.
Eyes shut tight, the world fades from view;
And all that remains is an ocean of blue.

Your heartbeat..its rhythm, a song I’ll never hear.
Does it ache for someone far, or hold no one near?
Do whispered names linger on your lips at night,
Or are you a dream I created to fill the quiet?
