Forget me

Your phone stopped calling my number
My messages remained unread
Your towels  remained so  dry
As they rested on your unmade bed

Your coffee pot waited every morning for your brew
Your clothes clinged to  your scent

The shower was thirsty to a lather of your shampoo

Then They said you left without warning
They called you among the dead
They said

So I called them liars
And Did not believe What has been said

I waited and waited for you to show up
For your car to pull over in our drive

I kept my phone fully charged
I waited for a sign that you are alive

The crescent became a full moon
The green trees their leaves shed

My driveway never saw you
My messages stayed unread

This is when I lost hope
And I realized that I was the liar who myself mislead

I knew here I will never find you
