I've been writing all my life, since I could read and hold a pen. Its only been in the last couple of years that friends and writing colleagues have encouraged me to submit work for publication. Slowly I've been finding success in getting work recognised in magazines and journals and at spoken word events. I'll post here as regularly as I can, posting poems that are new that I like or have achieved some success. I hope the writing engenders some understanding and encouragement #poetatheart
I remember my mothers words before the first day of school in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. “it will be ok. This is a new year. Just be yourself” but back then I didn't have a self, No personality at all. and somewhere along the time that I started to get one, the phrase “just be yourself” started to die and what came as a replacement was “don't be this” “don't be like that” “don't wear this” “suck in your stomach like that” and so I began to write poetry.
I'm young but my eyes have lied naked to the world for too long, but i see , I live, gain wisdom, I write, and most of all I learn to love. what you see depicts the difference between you and me but to find the difference we must share. If nothing else my words be my gift to you and your response be your gift to me. And might I add I'm willing to receive.
My name is Kailey Nicolaou (Titanium-Heart), my friends call me Kailz or Elly. My work is about my life struggles that have occurred and about faith, hope, depression etc. I have been writing poems, novels and songs since I was young to express my feelings, darkest and lightest thoughts. A lot of my poems are about my daughter Summer Rose Nicolaou who died on 18th December 2008, this was one of my darkest times that I have ever had. I do not speak to many people about my issues, so poetry is my release. I truly hope you enjoy my poetry and follow me for more of my poems, if you do follow me, I will defiantly take the time to look at your work and follow your page as well. Thank you.
I grew up in the small town of North Fork, California. I graduated from California State University, Fresno in Spring, 2011 with a B.A. in Mass Communications. I completed two years of my television work experience by working for WQAD News 8 (Moline, IL) as a production assistant, Video editor, and Photographer. I'm currently back in North Fork and continuing work with Vendetta Pro Wrestling, while also writing poetry. Besides writing poetry and professional wrestling, I have filmed and edited a variety of other things. These include documentaries, weddings, graduations, commercials, short movies, and other sports. I hope my Poetry lights up someone's day or helps them in some other way, Because the world passes you by so fast that it could lead some people astray.
I was born in Alabama. Lived the first 9 years of my life in Florida, but then moved back to Alabama after my grandmother passed away to live in her house. I've been here ever since and I absolutely love it. I am married to a wonderful man who is my best friend. I'm surrounded by my family and friends and beautiful nature. I am a follower of Christ. I've always loved to write. When I was little, I would write my parents little notes and slide them underneath the door of whatever room they were in. I just loved to touch people through my words. Verbally and on paper. When I became a teenager, I started to write random poetry for fun, but also for school. I realized that it wasn't homework for me to write, it was a joy. My poetry streak really took off at the age of 15. Now, having recently turned 30, I have been through a lot in the past decade and have not written as much as i used to. Ups and downs, highs and lows, defeats and victories...you name it. I've felt a lot of different emotions and thought many thoughts. And I've composed quite a few poems and written many songs through it all. So, this is my place to share them with the world, to touch others through my words. I hope they mean something to you. Thank you.
Hi there, I'm on Poeticous for the same reason that most of us are. I want people to experience the poems that flow through me. And I want to read that poems that flow through other people. I've read some poems on here that've made me cry and others that've made me laugh. I am delighted to read what other people have created and to share what I have created. Poetry is a language in and of itself. Nothing compares to reading a poem written by someone you don't even know and nodding your head in approval to every single line.
My name is Adrian. I grew up in the Sierra Nevada's of California. I'm in my early 30s and still living the solo, single life. I'm a creative individual who expresses himself through writing, photography, and making short videos. Most of my writings have a Love or Life touch, but I consider my work to be a variety of different elements. I have been writing poems and short stories since High School and some through my college years. Since I'm one of the single men with no children at his side, My writing centers around what comes in my mind and the many things any single, loving individual would wish to have. Some of my writings can be light or dark, happy or sad, It depends on what my creative mood is. Many people inside my circle know very little of my writing, but know me for my contributions in photography and creative video ambitions. I chose to separate the writer and the creative photographer, because it would draw too much attention. If you have any questions or want to share writings, feel free.

Grew up on a little gem in the Caribbean, a tourist attraction the eyes never misses. There I had my education, primary through college. Life has always been a challenge but with God I keep climbing, and my dreams are slowing becoming. Writer, teacher, website owner of https://www.livingtoreachacme.com/ and more. Always loved poetry. I dreamed of poetry, tried but never thought I was good enough. Today, I am here, I stand only by the Grace of God. He is just so awesome!!!!

Bore and raise in Los Angeles, California, Lennell Haley has lived in a variety of locations that gave her wisdom and insight into the human experience. Some experiences she would say are the impetus for many of her writings such as the period she and her family lived in the Imperial Courts Projects(off of 114th Grape Street) in Watts, California. Ms. Lennell Haley received her public school education in the State of California graduating from LeRoy Locke High School in 1973. She attended Southwest Junior College where she received Early Childhood Education Credits which led substitute teaching in the Compton School Distinct. She enjoyed working with students especially in the area of creative writing during the 15 years spent in the classroom. A high moment in her career was when Ms. Haley received publication in 2008 with four poetry pieces being accepted by International Poetry Writing along with an invitation to attend one of the largest poetry conventions in the world. An honor received during the event, held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada, was being awarded runner-up in the Newly Published Writer's category; this occasion was the impetus for other doors to begin opening. Ms. Haley considers her writing abilities a blessing from God and humbles herself gracefully. With no formal training, Ms. Haley says that the words begin to flow from within the moment she opens herself to God and begins to recognize that it is only through Him that she can express herself fully and honestly. She has stated many times that, "I write as the words come forth...period. "Her first memorable piece entitled, "Flowing Angel", was written in 2006. Ms. Haley says, "I was blessed with the skill of poetry writing in the simplest form which helps many others to be able to relate to and be healed by my words. Since 2006, Ms Haley has moved to Tulsa, OK and has published two books. her first book was cathartic being just the tool needed to open the floodgates towards healing. Over time, Ms. Haley penned her second book that opened her eyes as it dealt with a subject many do not acknowledge in the African American community--mental abuse. Her second book entitled "The Covering of God" is about live as a Christian and a sinner with insight into the understanding that if we man/woman falls, they have the right to get back up and try again. Ms. Haley believes that by knowing that as long as we have breath in our bodies each day we will learn something different, this ongoing learning will help us to grow into whom God Almighty created us to be.
