A lot more than a breeze
Gentle winds blowing in
from Key West and Havana
far away from Sanibel Island
once brought soothing comfort
to residents and tourists alike.
Yet Nature retained a powerful force
that was understood vaguely,
only in an abstract sense,
or perhaps even not at all.
That was changed forever
on 28 September 2022.
When the gentle Gulf breezes
return to Sanibel Island,
its community will never again
experience them in quite the same way.
