Farewell, Cousin

How do you mourn for a relative
that you never got to meet?

It’s really not that hard to do.

First, you must realize that all of us
are “related” in some form or fashion.

It’s only a tiny number that we can point to
and describe what the relationship actually is.

Their blood, like yours and mine and everybody else’s,
carries genetic markers which define us in ways we cannot imagine.

So farewell, lost cousin, and here’s hoping that the next world
will provide us the opportunity to finally cross paths with each other.
