Mother's Image

Alone by the candle light I ponder. Visiting
my past as thoughts tend to wonder. Fixed are
my eyes they stare, next to the candle lights
flickering glare.

If I could live life over again, what
would I do different, where would I begin?

In my youth it was neither here nor there.
My mother always worked my father never
there. Moving from rent to rent, no ties
or bonds friends came and went.

The candle light then flickered to my amazement
and awe. An images reflection this angel I saw.
Prying closer to ensure no other, Winged in the
shadows an image of my mother.

Suddenly the candle light lost all it’s glare.
As I turned on the lights suddenly I’m aware.

A mother tends to each her flower, nourishing
their growth by a God given power. Downcast
now glee I thank God above. For the gift of
a mother who showered me with love.
