The fire crackles in front of us
Stars twinkle in the night sky
The wind whistles through the pine trees
And the stream babbles along behind us.
I yawn softly and rub my eyes
A smile lights your face
I smile back
The crickets start to sing
The day has ended
And become a blissful night
We sit side by side on an old log
Our knees pressed together
The night is warm
The fire comforting.
You touch my knee,
Asking a silent question
I nod and welcom you into my body
You smile nad hold me.
You kiss me.
I curl into your side, exhausted.
You take my hand, kiss it,
Saying waht I already know
I kiss your jaw, whispering it back.
The moment is perfect
As we lie in each other’s arms,
Nothing between us but the night,
A shooting star goes by
And the fire fades away.
