The Lesson

There is a lesson here, In all of this.
That later may have good effect,
Though right now, I can’t see how.

There must be reason, In all of this
Or do we just say there is,
to save us from our treason.

We look and look, Into all of this.
But can find no reason why.
So unfair is all of this.

We try and try. But still can’t see.
Why us, why him,
So good was he.

So unfair when some remain,
To continue life, and to profane.
To do worse and worse, and no harm they take.

Justice! There is none, It can’t be seen.
Gone Into hiding,
Like it never has been.

What is the lesson then?
To accept whatever comes without complaint?
Reason then escapes restraint.

(2005)

I suspect the lesson here is not to judge others by their own lifestyle, although it is very difficult when other 'not so good' people seem to get away with it, while the 'good' people seem to suffer. I wrote this just a month after my son died, so my emotions were on fire!
