Venice

Italy

I stand upon the Venice bridge
Of sighs,
A palace and a prison on each
Side.
I saw from the tidal waves  so
She rise,
As from the strokes of the  blue
Enchanted skies.
A thousands years there cloudy
wings fly,
O, er this far times when many
A subject lies,
Looked upon the renaissance,
Marble stone tied,
Where upon Venice sat and sat
On her throne a hundred times!!
