A Rocks Desire

A Rocks Desire
      I watched the growing tree.
Young at first, straight and true.
Still I look up to see the leafless branches. Unlike me steady and true, it moves wild and free. Cold sets in and I worry some for its health.
I stay the same as the sprouts first appear. Still I look up to see the forming leaves. Occasionally I am visited by life, but not for long it’s gone. Still I look up to see the life in its branches living long. As the years pass my color fades, but its ever changing form, suns and shades me at times. I become hot and cold with its nature ways. Still I look up to feel the rays. I watch as heaven seems so close, as age is seen in its bark. I’m still grounded, as it stretches its years. As it bows with the breeze and sometimes breaks, it always lives and regrows. Still I look up to find glory in its life. How I long to live and die, as soon I know it will become old and rot. Still I look up to see, still a Rock I will be.
