Forest Night

As day succumbs to the final curtain,
the canopies of the dark night,
the smothering of
the last breath of light
of the Solar Gods that rule the days,
the warriors with their colossal hands
that sustain the earth and sun,
gone to sleep in the forest night
in the silence of the deep fields,
the tombs of the chattering skies,
the playground of the spirits,
nocturnal creatures stirring,
earth sleeping, phantoms hiding,
sunrise yet a distant dream,
a future yet to be revealed,
the mystery of time,
the feeling of space into space,
yet drifting into tomorrow’s lap,
embracing the sun, the God of light,
harbingers of the truth of motion,
of dark forests seeing the light again,
of darkness a temporal moment in time,

to step back with the all knowing God
who sees the secrets of the earth
spinning before the eyes,
of far-reaching distances broken down
into fleeting fragments, shrunken hours,
its micro mountains and teary streams,
its oceans spilling into oceans,
its forests laughing and playing,
its dizzy days swirling around the sun,
then the knowing of the earth
that settles down under the feet of man
who sees her as a colossal giant,
her forests that sleep through
endless nights harboring dark secrets,
waiting for the sun to reveal
the phantoms of the forest night again.
