Mystery Road

Along the way before Martin’s Winding appears,
a road not taken and by-passed through the years,
is still a mystery to me that makes me wonder.
When I see it again shall I begin to sunder?

My beaten path has my tracks still in the road.
The beeline to my destiny is growing old.
If I take the road a new world will open up,
satisfy my curiosity and get me out of my rut.

Is the new road a part of this or another world?
Does it end or does it twist around and furl?
Is it made of asphalt or of a creatural flesh?
Does it rise from the bottom up to a hill-top crest?

Is it submerged and breathe through aquatic gills?
Does it move and swim around all the hills?
Does it lay flat on the ground or move on its own?
Will it take me where I want to go or let me roam?

Does this new road exist out there for only me?
Does it lay still for others as far as they can see,
or does it move around and twist and turn,
playing with them like to me with no concern?

I shall drive upon it the next time I go.
What can happen for this to me I owe.
I will never know what kind of world is there
until I find out and to others can I share.
