The Quest

The Quest
Love’s journey a careful flowing
We light a lamp and keep it glowing
We hope it lives as we so desire
Nothing in the way to put out the fire
Love’s quest to find a suited heir
To keep love true to one so fair
I hope that love comes back to me
My beloved, I pray on bended knee
My love’s so strong it cannot break
My zealous heart my soul to take
Its commanding spirit took over at will
It took my tired life and gave it a thrill
If I could control love’s pending reciprocation
My love would reach its willful consummation
But as the life of love goes
It depends on her heart’s desire
