Fields of Green

Do you know the sound of wind through grass?
You can come with me and we will listen together.
Feel the breeze rush through your hair,
The smell of spring flowers all around us.
Same as the rolling hills, the warming sun
As we stand together hand in hand.
Me squeezing yours just to know you’re close.

I’m looking across these fields of green
In a state of bliss before unknown to me.
Love seemed previously beyond my grasp,
With no one to evoke such emotions.
You revealed my minds shroud to reveal what was already there.

(2015)

With this poem I tried something much different than usual. When reading the first stanza it appears to be a love poem. However when you look at the first word of each line you see it is actually about a boy in love with a girl, but he doesn't know if she loves him back. The second stanza then goes into depth about his love for this girl and how she makes him feel. When looking at the first word of each line again, you can see how the boy truly loves this girl, again without knowing how she feels.
