Our humanity

We’re human
Choosing what’s pleasing to the eye
Not worried about the inside
Seeing the outside, warm
Soft as cotton
Not worried if the inside is cold and rotten

It may be easy to replace the inside of a material thing
Maybe if we don’t like it we can throw it in the bin
The oven might be beautiful and shiny
Open it up and you find it dirty and grimy

People are the same
They put up a good front
But getting to know them you’ll find them lame
You’d wanna turn away and run

We should make sure to take good care of both sides
Inside and out
Then we can really change the world, no doubt
We won’t rely so much on what we see
It will be a better place for you and me

Dig deep on the inside of you to find the good and perfect
And when you find your good heart
Let it shine out

But if you don’t find perfection
Don’t be discouraged
For we are only human
So imperfect.
