Poetic Warfare

To puddle one’s words
Few are willing to admit
Myself least of all
To fall and land upon earth
Closer to Earth than before?

When Steel clashes steel
When words are meant to build up
Minds will be sharpened
Though tongues may prove loose cannons
No reason to run away

Wars run deep with red
No time to sheave their worn swords
With reasons to fight
To them our petty squabbles
Must seem an insect’s quarrel

(2013)

This set of poems were composed in response to a Facebook conversation I held with a fellow student. The first poem refers to an error I had made in a poem that I had posted. The second poem refers to how it is always good to get people to review your work. The third however compares our small poetry debate to that of a war zone.
