Abyss of Hearts
To a new future
She is the only light at the end of this long
Dark
And dangerous path
That I dwell on treading
Yet
One step forward into the settle abyss
Is one more step closer to her
One long stride in her direction
Even being as daring as I am
I am a bit shaken by what I must do
But
I intend to see the light
As well as grow from its prosperous rays
She will make me healthy and whole once more
The tips of my shoes are now covered in shadow
Dark swirls of black and grey
And my laces come undone as if all were watching in wait for me to trip and fall
Waiting within what I cannot see
But I know what I can foresee
I can foresee her
Her seeing me
And together we could be something
More than the earth below our feet
More than the shadows that plague us
Every waking moment of the day
Every restless moment at night
Like victims from our pasts we could arise from defeat
And maybe our shadows would not be as foreboding anymore
Maybe our shadows could be our weight
A weight that will keep us stuck together
Not a restraint
We can fly through windows
We can walk through walls
I will be there to catch you
I will catch you
When and if you fall
Fore I have already fallen under trance
And though it seems awfully impossible
I will take the chance
One step is one step
Two steps are two steps
And both of my feet are leading me straight to you
