humdrum

Just out of reach in the small of her back
Persistent tinglings would not leave her be
Her limbs contort the bones begin to crack
Her fingers stretch out unsuccessfully

The virus has decimated his wall
His cells dying, multiplying he fights
Too late! He’s ensnared in a losers brawl
Lungs wheeze, giving in to the fading lights

Their bodies seek out each others embrace
Lips say the words that their mouths find elusive
Hearts beat in unison with slavish grace
Modern mundanities, almost intrusive.

Sensual, deadly or merely a glitch
Love, disease or an unscratchable itch?
