Seán Livesey

A plagued garden

It was a dark and lonsome eve
When I walked and saw then disbelieved
An eyesore no mortal could ignore
Taking the shape of a garden

This garden, this disfigurement resembling hell
Led me to dwell
Upon what reason be it planned or otherwise fell upon me without forewarning

Overgrown it lay
With disheartening intent to stay
I tried to tend to this garden
But was left in undoubted dismay

This garden mirrored the plague of before
With weeds and blood it seldom saw
The illunination to light aflame
The ghastly horrors I feared would remain

Reside, reside I heard the wind or demon screech
Leaving my soul to grow weak
Thus, leaving it to reek of this damning underworlds nauseating odour
So alas I will persist, linger and linger then choke but still remain.
