Small

“You’re so small”, he says, looking down at me,
My almond eyes looking up at him searching for some sort of closure in that statement.

I had heard this millions of times before,
Whether it be in mock or in awe.
It was different this time.
I could see the words forming behind his honest eyes–tired.

He smirks.
“I know”, I whisper, my eyes pointed  down at my feet.

Silence.
I don’t know how to feel,
so I guess I’ll  just remain stoic.

I hear him laugh.
I look up.

“I like it”, he says.
“I think it’s cute.”

I smile and look up.
He looks into my eyes and I see it: closure.
