New Poets

New poets struggle with the weight
Of the world,
New poets feel invisable,
They curl up in a ball
& feel like giving up all;
New poets just want
A piece of the spotlight
To showcase their works,
New poets at times grovel
Or beg to find work.
Poetry in this day & age
Is a bygone art,
Yesterday poets were the rock stars
Of their days...
Today they compete with real rock stars
For their gaze,
Attention to lyrics,
Is the only poetry modern readers
ingest– they misunderstand or ignore the rest.
New poets are the poor beacons & spokespeople
Of the day,
New poets we would feel sorry for,
Would cater to them, be kind & blow them a kiss,
The only trouble is we don’t know they even exist.
