Make me smile

Each day has its list of demands,
It never comes to an end without satisfying these simple ones.
Today, today only I have one request.
Grant me this and the rest will fall into place.
Put a smile on my face.

This pleasant expression has eluded my portrait for days and days.
Grey and rain clouds have gathered in gossip about me.
Bills keep me up, I need pills to lay me down.
frown, I do, as the morning comes happily while hope drags her feet lazily.

Put a smile on my face,
Play my favorite song,
Take me to the park that holds the best memories,
Dance with me in the rain or in the breeze.

Put a smile on my face,
Pin it, stick it, fix it in a permanent place.
Whatever it takes, make sure it’s not fake.
I’m tired of crying my days to waste.
