No one is saving Superman tonight

He is the town’s hero,
Wives and nuns love him.
Sons and fathers want to be like him.
They all know that can count on him,
No matter the time, nor the task he will never let you down.
He is nothing like the Bat that comes only in the night,
Pitch black or sun light
He is up for the fight.
Who is he?
He is Krypton’s last son who traveled light years to be where we are.
He is a substitute to a plain’s engine in mid-air.
He is the comfort to victim’s loved ones weep.
He is the peace in tragedy.
He looked through walls,
Uncovered hidden bombs.
He silenced forest fires,
Right in the thick of it all till his cape began to sweat.
He has been there for us,
When we needed him he arrived fast enough.
But tonight, nobody is saving Superman.
Kryptonite piercing his iron heart,
Luther’s laughter breaking his will of steel.
Where are they that he saved?
He is on his own.
No one is saving Superman tonight.

(2013)

This is for all those I have been there for but they were never there when I needed them most.
