Slotcar Summer

come back jack
put it on the track
like the slotcar summer
when you learned to pull the number
and your tiny schoolgirl makeout
took place under her daddy’s porch
with a six pack of Coors
and the smell of cherry lip gloss

as we layed down together in the sand trap
and gazed up at Orion’s belt
and I thought about the pyramids
and the message for why they were built
and the men who came to erect them
as a map to mother’s homeland
in the inkiness of the celestial
where time escapes
and you feel infintesimal

then she grabs your boy hands
and puts them on her heart
and blinks a teardrop softly
and now here comes the part
when you feel it all surround you
and the weight begins to confound true
to the moment of the kiss
where her lips feel silky bliss
and her jordache jeans are skintight
and you try with all your might
to bottle the moment
in your cranial jar of torment
and her warmth pulls you under
into climes of deepened slumber

you awaken to the call
of bluebirds in the fall
and the dew upon your back
can only leave a trace of the world
as it watched over you
and wrapped you against its belly.
