Unflappable

We’re all Earth’s children.
But so are ducks.
I feel that I contribute more to
society, the economy and even duck
taxonomy than a duck does.
Cos there are mallards and balis and
cayugas and campbells and hook bills and
indian runners. And what to these
guys contribute? Their GDP equals nothing!
They don’t have jobs,
They don’t pay tax,
They just float around in ponds and
occasionally quack.
Whereas I read books, take buses,
wear shoes.
Can a little flappy duckling recite poetry to you?
Can  a little flappy duckling even write poetry?
I’d love to read a William Drake anthology.
Songs of Innocence and Songs of Beauty and
Songs dedicated to breadcrumbs and pondweed.
Ducks are cowardly, if you stop to think it through.
You can duck out of the way but you can’t Tom out of view.

But there’s one thing ducks do that I’ll never surpass,
And that’s squeezing an egg from out of my arse.
