Poetry's Confession

Attrition Remembrance and Footsteps in Nights of Madness

—The poem is
Not a city
The poem is
A murder
A rape
A suicide
A nightmare
A dream
A war
A slaughter
Eternal
And a never was
The poem is
An ocean in
The midst of
A storm we
Seek to ride
A voice from
The dark side
Of the sun
A roll where we
Never see the end
No victory
No defeat
An endless song
That falls over
Our heads
Our hearts
Our souls
Our mistakes
And the excesses
Of our joys
The poem...
The poem is
The labyrinth where
Jack the Ripper
Smiled and roamed
And victims cried
Out in horror
The poem is
A nightlight burning bright
Burning too long
Never burning at all
