Born Today

Life is so transient and ephemeral; we will not be here after a breath. So think better, think deeply, think with kindness, and write it with love so that it may live a little longer.
Debasish Mridha

Born today gone tomorrow
Life unfolds fast never slow
Thin slice of eternity
Half note in a symphony

Ghostly mist life appears
Mere speck in the universe
For a short period of time
Soon gone no reason no rhyme

For life’s flimsy; gossamer
Transient not forever
Mist, a brisk wind will disperse
Indeed! it’s our mortal curse

A candle with a short wick
Lighted fast-burning matchstick
Hundred mile an hour fastball
Newton’s apple on freefall

Yet our life has consequence
In the end it does make sense
This life’s a dress rehearsal
If we’re good, make it we shall

In the thin sliver of time
We spend in this earthly clime
Our papers we’re preparing
Visas to everlasting.
