The Song They Are

“The moon and stars envy your beauty."
Unknown

A Sonnet

The beauty of women, long I adored
The world would be desolate without them
Of this truth all men are of one accord
Every one of them, a rare, precious gem

Their presence brings a sparkle to the day
And where they tread, flowers start to blossom
The skies sun-kissed, azure and never gray
With grace that even poets fail to fathom

So I proclaim how amazing they are
Their quiet fire, darkness can never hide
With smiles a-twinkle rivaling a star
They move through life with strength in every stride

And though I write, no verse can quite become
The song they are—the pulse, the beating drum
