I stood in front of the mirror
Ashamed of what I saw
An image of a ghost which
Perfected every flaw
-
A smile sadder than rain said
'I’m so tired of pretending’
She still grinned through the exhaustion of
The lies she was defending
-
Her eyes were haunting, they
Could mesmerise with a glare
As if the grief held you in place and
All I could do was stare
-
Her skin gleamed of scars
Medals of unwon wars
Wounds which seemed healed yet
Still bled at their cores
-
I stood in front of the mirror
A ghost whose lost the fight
She went to battle a little girl
But grew up overnight
