I am oracle

in a dream

I dreamed of being lost and trapped
in a land of angry fearful liars.
There was nowhere to run or hide.
I cowered cornered and exhausted,
my back against the furthest wall;
with all their forces marshaled to
meet the threat of what I seemed to be.

There came a crucial moment.
A miracle of transformation occurred;
no text or script could have foretold.
When I witnessed their collective fears
reflected in such troubled eyes,
I knew as if I’d known for all of time.

I am oracle.

A calm and steady voice arose
from deep within my trembling breast;
and spoke in such a soothing manner
that each tribal member fell silent,
so to hang on every uttered word.
I knew not what the message was to follow,
a hollow witness to what would transpire.

I am oracle.

I speak to all of you, not out of fear,
hatred or self-preservation;
but as one who manifests the holy word
of the one you know as God.

I am oracle.

It falls to me to voice these providential words;
If you wish to grow beyond your bonds of fear,
these ancient fortress walls you have contrived
must be destroyed and so allowed to crumble.
