Where I end

I’ve been so afraid
to speak these heartfelt words.
This secret has been kept so well,
from myself,
by myself,
for so long a time
it no longer seemed a secret.
Just some other buried thing,
I wouldn’t, couldn’t, shouldn't
talk about, think about, wonder about.
Just some other buried thing.

Now the secret’s out

I have been afraid
to lose myself again,
and again,
in you, or you, or you.

I don’t know now
if I am lost,
or have been found.
I just need to know
that I won’t cross that line again,
without my knowing.
The line that says
where I end,
and you begin.
