Death is the most awkward pause
of all the pauses there be -
as deep as love for Santa Claus
and wider than energy.
Life is the longest thing we do
no matter how short it seems -
as deep as history’s roots pursue
the right to claim posterity.
Together they form the afternoons
and all the nights and dawns
that travel past the months and moons
blanketing everyone’s lawn
to bring Time’s presence to the 'soon’
by landing thereupon.
And thereupon and there to stay
in commerce with the night and day
to barter human thought away
the Life-Death Partnership
is happy to let us promenade
with wedding dresses & lemonade
(that some kid entrepreneur just made)
that is until we slip!
